Energy, towards the establishment of the "Io Sono Fvg" CER
"The 'Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia' Renewable Energy Community project was born with a clear objective: to build a new, shared, and inclusive energy system that leaves no one behind. A national model, led by the Region and with the involvement and contribution of associations, economic groups, and institutions that represent key junctures and play a unifying role in the institutional, economic, and social fabric of our region," said Fabio Scoccimarro, Regional Councilor for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development, at the conclusion of a series of preliminary meetings aimed at establishing the 'Io Sono Fvg' Renewable Energy Community (CER). The meetings involved potential founding members identified by the Region in an effort to strike a balance between the various sectors of the regional community.
The Chambers of Commerce of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Confindustria, Confartigianato, Confcommercio, Confcooperative, Coldiretti, Confagricoltura, Cia, Copagri, and Fedagri are involved. In addition, the Regional Health Coordination Agency, the Universities of Trieste and Udine, the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI), the regional Associations of Tertiary Workers (ATERS), the Volunteer Service Center, and the regional Archdioceses.
As early as 2022, as Scoccimarro noted, the Region had realized that many individuals would struggle to establish a CER. "Hence," the councilor emphasized, "the idea of establishing a regional energy community led by the Administration, capable of embracing and coordinating the system of territorial categories and associations."
After initiating discussions with all potential stakeholders in the future CER, the councilor firmly stated that "this initiative is no longer a pipe dream. Through a regulatory change that overcomes the single-cabin requirement, we can finally propose a streamlined, effective, and unified model at the regional level. A single legal entity," the council member explained, "a single governance structure will save costs, time, and bureaucracy. The project will be coordinated by FVG Energia, with the support of its scientific partner ENEA."
"Joining today as a founding member," the councilor added, "means contributing to the creation of a CER that not only represents an innovative and sustainable way of producing and consuming energy, but also promotes social cohesion, redistribution, and energy justice. A concrete tool," Scoccimarro concluded, "for preventing future energy crises in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing international geopolitical landscape."
